Among his award winning films are Citizen Nawi (2007), Salvador (2006), Shalom Abu Bassem (2004), Who is Mordechai Vanunu (2004), Have You Heard about the Panthers? (2002), Adolph Eichmann – The Secret Memoirs (2002), To Conquer the Mountain or Die: The Life of Menachem Begin (1994) and Pillar of Fire (1981). Nissim Mossek, known in Israel for being a director/editor with a social conscience, won the Landau Prize, Israel’s most distinguished filmmaking award, in 2004 for best director of documentary film. At the moment Nissim is working on a film exposing the controversial steps to privatize the Israeli jail system, and a film about the legendary Jerusalem rock group “The Electric Stage.”
Director’s Statement

Before I met Ezra Nawi I thought I led an interesting life. Since I began working on the film I was arrested twice, I was beaten up by settlers, and my equipment was destroyed on numerous occasions. This gave me just an inkling of what life is like for Ezra, and the price he pays for his social activism.

As a filmmaker I always preferred to observe things from the sidelines. But in this case my involvement and identification with the hero overcame my past objectivity. I believe that people should take action when they witness a wrong taking place. My hope is that audiences who see this film will be inspired to protest the injustices in their given societies. In addition, I hope the film will raise the level of social sensitivity to the rights of Gays and Palestinians.

In Fuad’s case, I wish to increase awareness about his daily battle for freedom. Perhaps someone watching the film might be able to help him either obtain a refugee visa for a European country, or obtain permission to reside in Israel.
